This talk is about how to use Contemporary Aboriginal Art History as a learning tool for reluctant learners. I lay out a framework for respect-based communication practices, then give simple and practical tips to get students expressing what they know in art projects. It finishes with a brainstorming session on easy to implement projects. This is for art therapists, educators or youth workers. I can adapt this to the appropriate audience.
This lecture is based on techniques and strategies that I use when working with youth. It discusses the difference between my Cree worldview and how it can be implemented to build and access the resilience in our youth. There are many stories and examples weaved throughout this talk.
This is a discussion about how to infuse the Circle of Courage (Reclaiming Youth International) in Art-based practices. I walk people through the circle and then give multiple examples of projects that can be stepping stones for successful interactions with youth.
